ABOUT
La Sala Rossa (The Red Room) is our bigger venue just across the
street. This beautiful room is a historic Montreal building built
by the left-wing Jewish community in 1932. It was a cultural / recreational
/ political center and once hosted Paul Robeson, Eleanor Roosevelt
as well as a workmen's circle during the 1940's and '50's. For the
past thirty years the Centro Social Español has occupied
the building and continues to use it as a cultural center for people
of Spanish decent. The Sala is proud to be a part of this integral
piece of Montreal history. The room fits up to 250 people. On any
given night, you might find a cabaret, a free-jazz master, a breakdance
competition, some good ol' rock 'n' roll, reggae, djs, folk, indie-rock,
musique actuelle, film screenings, a flamenco show, poetry readings
or some guy sitting in a tent blowing thru your mind. Monthly events
that have made the Sala so popular include the Kiss My Cabaret,
the Meow Mix and the Goods.

We are usually booked 2 months in advance. If you are interested
in putting on an event or booking a show, please send us a CD, cassette
or a description of the event at info@casadelpopolo.com or to 4873
St-Laurent, Montréal (Québec) H2T 1R6 CANADA. You
